at Hawthorne Valley School in Harlemville, NY.  June 27-July 1, 2011

This Course will immediately follow the instrument forging workshop (June 17-25).

Themes of the course will be

  • Practicing Musical Freedom Through Improvisation,
  • Working with the New Tone Groups,
  • Developing Musical Processes Together,
  • the Ordering of Tones in the Human Being,
  • the Musical Development of Humanity in the Cultural Epochs,
  • the Moods of the Intervals, and
  • Common Work With Other Instruments.

The course will end with a concert given by the participants.

Manfred Bleffert has dedicated his life to developing new music. His work includes a unique approach to graphic notation, improvisation, composition and instrument building. His research is both broad and profound. His compositions are improvisational and unique. Manfred is a dynamic and inspiring teacher.
