Learn to know something through working artistically.

July 7-9 Painting and Drawing with the Gospel of St. John

How can we learn to know something on a deeper level?

“Saint John relates what he experiences as an initiated seer, who could look into the Spiritual worlds…. Whoever looks upon it as a book that one should read and understand in the same way as one reads and understands any other book knows nothing of the Saint John Gospel. He alone has knowledge of it who can experience it”. Rudolf Steiner Esoteric Christianity

How can we experience this sacred text? There are many ways - but in this workshop we will experience through the creative process of drawing and painting. All exercises will be led.

Suggested Contribution: $0-300 (all supplies included)

July 11-14 Using artistic process to “see” one another

Working artistically with painting and drawing exercises designed to help participants see a viewpoint or approach other than their own can help develop the capacity not only to see the other but to use these techniques in one’s own work. Using someone else’s approach can be freeing and inspiring.

Exercises will include making a three part painting (triptych) where one person creates the first panel in their own style and color, then moving on to their neighbor’s place to create the second panel using their neighbor’s style and color and so on for the third panel. The triptychs produced can be grouped by artist or by style. No experience is necessary, each participant will create their own work, the approach is both forgiving and engaging.

We will work both outside and inside and we will work in many media and use many approaches.

Suggested Contribution: $0-600 (all supplies included)

July 17-21 Moonrise/Moonset

Working with the 6th and 7th of Rudolf Steiner’s sketches for painters we will explore the off tones of color; the browns, purples, grays and ochres, the pale blue in relation to peach. What do these colors have to teach us?

We will work both outside and inside and we will work in many media and use many approaches.

Suggested Contribution: $0-600 (all supplies included)
