Anthroposophy: More Than an Introduction

February 01 2010 07:30 PM to 09:30 PM

Location: Chestnut Ridge, NY

Third of four lectures by Michael Ronall in Chestnut Ridge, NY.

Man has it in his power to perfect himself and, in time, completely to transform himself. But this transformation must take place in his innermost self, in his thought-life. ~ Rudolf Steiner

If spiritual science is to strengthen and deepen rather than replace the student’s own experience of life, it must be pursued with intellectual honesty as well as artistic sensitivity and goodwill. In four evenings together, we will approach what Steiner has offered us, advancing from What is it?—through What do I do with it?—through What will it do for me?—to What difference does it make?

The four sessions, while designed as a whole, may also be attended separately:

  • Monday, January 11, 7:30pm: A path of knowledge, a re-enlivening of experience, a new mystery wisdom.
  • Monday, January 18, 7:30pm (MLK Day): Cycles of opportunity in moral technique through karma and reincarnation.
  • Monday, January 25, 7:30pm: Encountering the world, negotiating inner and outer, finding meaning in sorrow and joy.
  • Monday, February 1, 7:30pm: Fall and redemption; sin, responsibility, and freedom; meditative thinking and consequential doing.

Michael Ronall holds an MA in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research and received teacher training at the Center for Anthroposophy. He has actively served the Anthroposophical Society and the New York Branch, has taught at Sunbridge Institute, the Fellowship Community, Eurythmy Spring Valley, and the New York Branch, and is on the faculty of the Foundation Studies Cycle in Princeton, NJ. He was a featured speaker at the Society's 2009 annual conference.

Admission: Each evening $15; students and seniors $10.
